H.E. Bates Companion

Bates is one of a number of people asked to contribute to this column of "Books of the Year Chosen By Eminent Contemporaries." His selection, Modern English Painters: Lewis to Moore by Sir John Rothenstein is mistakenly printed with the author's name as William Rothenstein, an error corrected the following week in the "Books of the Year II" article.
