"Ashford School."

A privately printed "Golden Jubilee" memento on the fiftieth anniversary of the private school in Kent attended by both of Bates's daughters, Judith and Ann Catharine. Bates provides an account of the growth of the school - from four staff and twenty pupils to a prominent institution with boarders from around the world. He notes that roughly 4,000 girls have "had the opportunity of learning the difficult business of growing up and the art of living" at Ashford.
