"From My Garden -- Garden in the Sun."

Bates here writes not of his garden in Kent but of a visit to Madeira and of "the feast, for both mouth and eye, this incomparable island offers." After some general observations on the land, views, and birds, Bates focuses on magnolias, camellias, proteas, and other plants. In Living (London, March 1969, 3:2, p. 6).
