"The Old Eternal."

A celebration of friendship, community, and liquor, as two life-companions named Spud and Pinkie meet inside an old air-raid shelter on their property, in an annual "sort of thanksgiving for what we got through at the time." After dancing to the song "Little Brown Jug, " the two women toast the stars as "awfully eternal somehow" while also acknowledging that "we're a bit of the old eternal too." In Argosy (January 1963), The Wedding Party (1965).
