"Shandy Lil."

A late Uncle Silas tale, written several years after the second collection of such tales (Sugar for the Horse), concerning Silas's attempt to coach a timid man in his courtship of a lovely barmaid. A television adaptation starring Albert Finney was aired in 2003. In Argosy (October 1960), The Wedding Party (1965), Weekend (Summer 1979).
