"A Taste of Blood."

An urban hoodlum, accompanied by his motorcycle gang, terrorizes a country man, leaving only when threatened by the boy's ex-girlfriend. The language and violence is reminiscent of Bates's 1949 novel Dear Life, suggesting that this posthumously-published work might have been written in that time period. In The Yellow Meads of Asphodel (1976).
