"The Yellow Crab."

With elements of a tongue-and-cheek mystery story, Bates depicts an American couple on vacation in the Caribbean. The choice of setting was probably influenced by several months Bates and his wife spent in the Bahamas in the spring of 1953. In The Cornhill (Summer 1954), Argosy (November 1959), Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal and Other Stories/The Enchantress and Other Stories (1961).
