"Castle in the Air."

In a style similar to that of the Uncle Silas tales, a young boy visits with a hard-drinking poacher and hears tales of battles long ago. Taking place at a public house run by his Aunt called "The Swan with Two Nicks," the tale may draw from boyhood memories at the Chequers pub, run by Bates's great-aunt in Yeldon.
