"The Electric Christ."

A retired Reverend becomes enamored of a statue of Christ with an electric halo and purchases it for his home. When it fails to work but is at last repaired, "He had a single moment of beatific joy as he switched on the halo and saw it bathe the face of the Christ in the old effulgence but with a new and comforting tenderness. He felt very happy." In John O'London's Weekly, (September 28, 1935).
