A tale of an illiterate farmer, a woman who brings joy to his life, and a sly farmhand who is threatened by her presence. A film adaptation by Svensk Filmindustri called Under Solen (Under the Sun) (directed by Colin Nutley, with Rolf Lassgard, Helena Bergstrom, and Johan Widerberg) was released in 1998. An adaptation in the television series "Country Matters" was aired in January 1973.
