H.E. Bates Companion

An Uncle Silas piece not featuring the usual outrageous reminiscence by Silas, but instead a recollection by the narrator of a lovely country outing with his uncle to a "widder" with a "long rambling orchard," and thus bearing some of the dreamlike qualities of Bates's early coming-of-age tale "Alexander."
